You Know You're An Adoptive Parent (Or Should Be) If:

1. The fact that there are 143 million children without a parent to kiss them goodnight has made you lose sleep.
2. You realize DNA has nothing to do with love and family.
3. You can't watch Adoption Stories on TLC without sobbing.
4. The fact that, if 7% of Christians adopted 1 child there would be no orphans in the world, is convicting to you.
5. You spend free time surfing blogs about families who have experienced the blessing of adoption.
6. It drives you crazy when people ask you about adopted child's "real" parents.
7. You have ever been "pregnant" with your adoptive child longer than it takes an elephant to give birth.(2 years!)
8. You had no idea how you would afford to adopt but stepped out in faith anyway, knowing where God calls you He will provide.
9. You have ever taken an airplane ride half-way around the world with a child you just met.
10. You believe God's heart is for adoption.
11. You realize that welcoming a child into your heart and family is one of the most important legacies you could ever leave on this earth.
12. You know what the word "Dossier" means, and you can actually pronounce it!
13. You have welcomed a social worker into the most private parts of your life.
14. You shudder when people say your child is so lucky that you adopted them, knowing full well you are the blessed one to have him or her in your life.

This is what you would call one of the lows.....

In the adoption world many people refer to there being many high and low points.....well , I am in one of those low points the past week or so. I am not sure what causes it and I really can't explain it, but there are definitely days when you feel like this will NEVER end. Maybe it is the fact that we are around the 1 year mark as to when we 1st started our adoption process, but lately it almost seems like it is something of the imagination that will never happen. Like a dream that has no end.
Sorry that after not logging anything for so long this is what I log, but this is part of the journey and "This too shall pass!".

What a great day to play in the snow....

so we did! We took Cohen out tobogganing and we had a great time throwing snowballs, making snow angels and just playing around. Now our little man is upstairs having a nap. Hope this weather sticks around awhile. Hope to post some new pictures soon.

Henok

We have received the information on our sponsor child and he is a 9yr old boy in grade 2 named Henok. He is a handsome boy with a great smile and we look forward to learning more about him as time goes on. We also look forward to being able to meet him one day when we travel to Ethiopia.....whenever that might be.
It's amazing how much just $30/mth or $360/yr can provide for a child in a country like Ethiopia. With this sponsorship Henok's tuition has been paid for the year, he has been provided shoes and a school uniform, 1 meal a day and a safe fosterhome.
I probably spend $30/mth on my morning coffee!

Robeez donation!

Robeez has been generous enough to donate 25 pairs of infant shoes for us to take to Ethiopia to donate to a local orphange. I apply throught them through their "heart and sole" program and I just got word from them today that my application has been approved and they are sending them out to us, all we have to do is pay for the shipping to get them to us!

Taking a break from shovelling

Took these pictures Saturday afternoon of father and son enjoying the nice winter weather. Cohen like his dad loves be outdoors, even when it's cold out. We figured the cold air would be good on his poor little melon as he had a bitt of a fall Sat morning and hit his head on the stairs pretty hard. He didn't like putting ice on it, so this was the best we could come up with.
